HLK-LD2410C 24GHz FMCW Radar Human Presence Sensor — 6 Metre Range

The LD2410C detects human presence using 24GHz FMCW (frequency-modulated continuous wave) radar, distinguishing between stationary and moving occupants within 6 metres. Unlike PIR sensors which require movement, the LD2410C detects a sitting or sleeping person through micro-motion — breathing and subtle body movement — making it suitable for occupancy detection in offices, bedrooms, and meditation spaces. A UART interface outputs real-time presence and distance data with configurable sensitivity zones.

  • 24GHz FMCW radar — detects moving and stationary human presence
  • 6 metre detection range
  • Stationary micro-motion detection — finds seated or sleeping occupants
  • UART interface — outputs presence status and distance in real time
  • 5V supply — direct Arduino or ESP32 serial connection
  • Configurable sensitivity — separate thresholds for motion and micro-motion zones
Specification Value
Radar frequency 24GHz FMCW
Detection range Up to 6m (motion), up to 6m (stationary)
Interface UART (256000 baud)
Supply voltage 5V DC
Output pins OUT (presence), UART TX/RX
Antenna Integrated on PCB

How does the LD2410C differ from a PIR sensor?

PIR sensors detect changes in infrared radiation from moving heat sources — they miss stationary people. The LD2410C uses radar to detect micro-motion from breathing and subtle body movement, so it correctly identifies a person sitting still at a desk or sleeping in a bed. This makes it suitable for smart lighting, HVAC occupancy control, and sleep monitoring where PIR would give false “vacant” readings.

Best for

Smart office presence detection, bedroom occupancy sensing, elder care fall detection, energy-saving building automation, sleep quality monitoring, touchless interactive displays, and any application where PIR fails due to stationary occupants.

Hannah G. ★★★★★

Finally a radar that reliably detects me sitting still at my desk, not just when I wave my arms around. The 6-meter range covers my whole workshop, and setting the detection gate in the serial tool was straightforward.

Penelope O. ★★★★★

Took a bit of tuning in the app, but once I got the sensitivity zones set it picks me up sitting completely still at my desk, which my old PIR sensor never managed. The 6 metre range covers my whole workshop without false triggers from the ceiling fan. Genuinely impressed with how well the stationar

Adam U. ★★★★★

Total game changer for my hallway light setup — it keeps the lamp on while I'm sitting still on the couch, which my old PIR sensor never managed. The 6 metre range covers the whole room easily, and it hasn't false-triggered once in two weeks.
