3144E Hall Effect Speed Sensor Module — 4-Pin Digital Output

The 3144E module mounts a Hall effect switch sensor alongside a signal indicator LED on a compact PCB. When a magnetic field from a rotating magnet or magnetic disc passes the sensor face, the output pin switches from high to low (open-collector, active low), generating a pulse for every magnet that passes. Counting pulses over time gives rotational speed in RPM; counting total pulses gives angular position. The 3.3V–24V supply range covers both low-voltage MCUs and industrial 12V/24V signal lines.

  • 3144E Hall effect switch — digital output, active low on field detection
  • 3.3V–24V supply range — direct Arduino or industrial PLC input
  • Open-collector output — pulls low on field, requires pull-up on signal line
  • LED indicator — lights when magnetic field is detected
  • 4-pin header — VCC, GND, signal, and LED control
Specification Value
Sensor IC A3144E Hall effect switch
Supply voltage 3.3V – 24V
Output type Open-collector, active low
Switching threshold Operate: 40–100 Gauss, Release: 15–50 Gauss

How do you use the 3144E for RPM sensing?

Attach a small neodymium magnet to the rotating shaft or disc — one magnet per revolution. Connect the sensor output to an Arduino interrupt pin (with a 10k pull-up resistor) and count pulses in software. Dividing pulses-per-second by the number of magnets-per-revolution gives RPS; multiply by 60 for RPM.

Best for

Motor RPM measurement, bicycle speedometers, wind turbine rotation logging, fan speed control feedback, DC motor encoder replacement, gear tooth counting, and industrial speed monitoring.

Ryan ★★★★★

Tested this with a small magnet taped to a fan and the LED lights up cleanly each pass. The 4-pin digital output makes it simple to read with just one digital pin on my board.

Carter ★★★★★

Wired this 3144E module to an Arduino interrupt pin and it triggers cleanly every time a magnet passes the sensor. The little onboard LED makes it dead simple to confirm the signal without hauling out a scope. Counting RPM on my bench rig has never been this painless.

Grace ★★★★★

The onboard LED makes it super easy to confirm when a magnet passes by, and the digital output is rock-solid for my speed
