STM32F103C8T6 Blue Pill Development Board — ARM Cortex-M3 Clone Chip

The Blue Pill is the most popular low-cost STM32 development board, running the STM32F103C8T6 ARM Cortex-M3 at 72MHz with 64KB flash and 20KB SRAM. It is programmed via STM32CubeIDE, PlatformIO, or the Arduino IDE using the STM32duino board support package. The built-in USB connector can run either the serial bootloader for flashing or appear as a USB HID, CDC, or custom device in firmware — capabilities the Arduino Uno’s ATmega328P cannot match.

  • STM32F103C8T6 Cortex-M3 at 72MHz
  • 64KB flash, 20KB SRAM
  • 37 GPIO pins — 10 ADC, 3 UART, 2 SPI, 2 I2C, CAN, USB
  • USB Micro-B — HID, CDC, or serial bootloader mode
  • SWD header — ST-Link V2 debug and programming
  • BOOT0 jumper — selects bootloader or run mode
Specification Value
MCU STM32F103C8T6 (Cortex-M3)
Clock 72MHz
Flash 64KB

GPIO 37 (10 ADC, 12-bit)
USB Micro-B (Full Speed 12Mbps)

How do you program the Blue Pill from Arduino IDE?

Install the STM32 board support package from Roger Clark (STM32duino) via Arduino IDE Board Manager. Select the correct board, processor, and upload method (Serial, STLink, or DFU). For the serial bootloader, set BOOT0 jumper HIGH, reset the board, then upload; the jumper returns to LOW for normal run. For STLink, use an ST-Link V2 connected to the SWD header.

Best for

USB HID keyboard and MIDI controllers, high-speed ADC data acquisition, CAN bus projects, ARM Cortex-M learning, replacing Arduino Uno for performance-critical tasks, and custom USB device development.

Sophia W. ★★★★★

Por fin pude programar un sensor de temperatura con este Blue Pill y los 72MHz del ARM Cortex-M3 se notan, mucho más fluido que mis proyectos con Arduino. Eso sí, necesitas un programador aparte, pero por el precio es un chollo.

Henry L. ★★★★★

Paired this with a cheap ST-Link and had blink running in maybe ten minutes. The 72MHz Cortex-M3 is plenty for my little sensor projects, though the clone chip means you'll want to double-check flash size before big builds. For the price I'm honestly impressed.

Victoria A. ★★★★★

Grabbed two of these to replace aging Arduino Nanos in a couple of sensor projects and they've handled everything I've thrown at them, including some fairly tight timing loops at 72MHz. Flashing over the serial bootloader worked without any fuss. The 64KB of flash is plenty for what I'm doing, thoug
